2019 favourite personal photographs | Stockholm familjefotograf

Yes, folks, 2019 is rapidly drawing to a close. For me, it’s been a deeply spiritual year. I have had some beautiful spiritual experiences (maybe I’ll tell a select one or two of you about them over a drink sometime), and I have grown a lot from them. It’s been a year of going inwards and reflecting on the life lessons that I have experienced so far. It’s likely because of all this personal and spiritual growth, that I haven’t taken as many photos for myself as I usually do. On the up side of this, not taking as many pictures as normal meant that I have been more present and mindful of what’s been happening around me. And this can only be good, right?

For now, I’ll leave you with a selection of my favourite personal photographs from 2019. I hope you enjoy them and I also hope you take the time to be present this Christmas. Give someone the gift of presence.

Portraits Matter | Family Photographer in Stockholm

When was the last time you got your whole family together for a photograph?
Do you keep saying, 'next time'? What makes you so sure there will be a next time?
I have learned the hard way that sometimes there isn't a next time.
And that hurts. A lot.
Portraits matter. And if you haven't lost a member of your family yet, you probably can't even imagine how much portraits matter. One day though, you will know.

Colourful autumn family photo session | Familjefotograf Stockholm

It really is one of the best feelings when a family I have photographed before choose me again to create new portraits for them. I never take it for granted. There are lots of photographers out there to choose from. I’m not on social media that much, I don’t talk a lot about what I do and I’m not a marketing guru. I just quietly get on with my work and try to give all my families the best possible experience, from start to finish. And so when a past client gets in touch to book another family session, I am always completely humbled.

I was so excited to work with this family again. I knew they would trust me and I knew they would bring all the positive vibes, which always makes my job easier. The mom picked the best autumn colours for the kids to wear and we were lucky enough to have some beautiful autumn colours as our backdrop. It might be a bit scary sometimes booking a photo session. It is also an investment that some people may decide against. I really believe, however, that you will never regret having photographs taken. You never know what tomorrow might hold. There are no guarantees in this life. Photograph your family while they are still here.

One girl and her dog | Stockholm familjefotograf

Good morning from a very chilly Stockholm :). I was out walking for an hour and a half this morning and even though I was well wrapped up, the cold has somehow crept into my bones. My fingers can barely type, they are almost frozen. I’m pretty sure there’s a big mug of tea and some homemade chocolate chip cookies with my name on them waiting for me somewhere in the kitchen ;).

I’ve been really busy with family photo sessions lately and between that and, well, life, I haven’t shot any personal work for quite some time. And as any photographer will tell you, it’s important to shoot just for yourself, to create something just for you. I’ve really been missing it, too. I’ll see someone in beautiful light, or I’ll be talking to someone with expressive eyes, and I will be itching to photograph them. Yesterday we took our dog for a walk down by the water and praise the Lord, I managed to take some photographs just for me.

Now, time for that cuppa…

Peace and love :)
