Year in review : 2015

When this year began, I had no idea how I was going to get through it.  On the heels of a devastating trauma in my personal life, my modus operandi was and still is, to take one day at a time.  Since this year began, I have scarcely thought about the future.  Once a fearless and frequent dreamer, I now rarely think of time in modules greater than 24 hours.  I awaken each morning and endeavor to get through the day as best I can, a battered survivor of loss and desolation.  I have become a master of putting on a brave face.  This is no mean feat when running a business where it is your job to elicit a true reflection of the expectant individual(s) in front of your camera.  I can honestly say though that I have given 100% to every. single. photo session, without fail.  I put my heart and soul into everything I do at Sandra Jolly Photography and love nothing more than when happy clients send me pictures of how they have displayed their Jolly photos.  I am incredibly proud that this year Jolly pictures now grace the walls of homes in Sweden, Finland, England, Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands and America.

Huge thanks to everyone who has chosen me to create their portraits this year.  Being featured on National Geographic and numerous photography blogs this year has been wonderful, but when a past client tells her two best friends about me and they subsequently book Jolly shoots, it warms my sensitive and humble soul more than anything else.  Please, allow me to share a selection of my favourite images from 2015.  I wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a jolly New Year.

The last Jolly family of 2015 | Stockholm child photographer

This was my last family session of 2015 and what a dark, rainy, winter's morning it was!  You wouldn't think it though to look at this loved up family.  Their pet cat was very curious about my camera and made a bold attempt to steal the show!  The baby girl, however, and her many expressions was determined to be back in the limelight ;)

I'm currently taking bookings for 2016.  You can either contact me via the website or at sandra@sandrajolly.com.  Don't be a stranger :)

Hagaparken family session | Sandra Jolly Photography

I've been dying to blog this session!  There's so many things I loved about it: the location, the autumnal feel, the colours, the light and the happy energy this family had together!  I usually photograph younger kids, so when this lovely mom told me she had an 11 year old and a 13 year old, I didn't quite know what to expect.  Turns out, these siblings were a total joy to photograph!  I didn't have to chase them, tell them bad jokes or cajole smiles from them.  Hell, I didn't even break a sweat on this shoot!  If you've got a tween at home you'd like me to photograph, be sure to get in touch.  I'd love to hear from you!

Cool letterboxes and happy children | Täby family photographer

I was so impressed with these kids.  They only arrived in Sweden from Germany in the spring and their English was so good they could even understand a fast-talking Irish woman!  Shooting indoors in November can be challenging, but when I saw the gorgeous windows in the living room, my photographer's heart started beating extra fast!  And as their home was literally a stone's throw from the water, we got to take some pictures there, too.  The morning ended with a large dosage of happiness: happy parents (because the kids were happy), happy photographer (because the kids were happy) and happy kids (because, well, because they were just HAPPY!).  Oh, and check out the cool letterbox - a gift from a friend when they departed Germany.  Now, that's what I call an original gift :)
