Quick and beauiful portraits

Greetings! Last month I returned home to Ireland for my father’s first anniversary of his passing last year. I attended a couple of family get-togethers and met lots of people I don’t regularly see. As there have been several deaths in my family in the past couple of years, I thought it was high time I got some quick and beautiful portraits of some of the people I encountered.

We can all be guilty of assuming we’ll see each other some other time, at the next birthday, next Christmas, next holiday. Everyone naturally assumes there’ll be plenty more occasions to get that photo. Life, however, has taught me there may not be a next time. There may be no other chance to talk to that person or to get that photograph.

So, as quickly as I could, I brought as many people as possible outside and shot a couple of frames of each person. Here’s a small selection...

Beautiful Autumn Portraits in Stockholm

These portraits were created a couple of days into November, so we were fortunate to capture the last of the autumnal colours and leaves in our shots. The portrait session took place on an overcast day, approximately one hour before sunset. Although I would have loved some yummy, golden light, I still loved the light on this afternoon, which was soft, diffused, and flattering to the skin.

Beautiful Professional Portraits at Home

Greetings! You know, sometimes a client books you for one job, say, a wedding party at the National Museum in Stockholm, and then months later, they decide to establish their own business, so they book you for branding images. That’s exactly what happened with this client. She is launching her own consultancy business, and since she was so happy with the party images I created, she reached out to book me for fresh portraits for her new venture.

This astute businesswoman was delighted that I could come to her home and create a series of images there. We discussed the feel of the images and her outfits, resulting in a professional, friendly, and approachable vibe to her portraits.

These days, many people are opting for non-studio images for their professional profiles and social media accounts. They want images that truly reflect who they are. Images that are natural and genuine, not stiff and over-styled.

Male Portrait Session in Stockholm

Greetings! Yikes, I’ve fallen waaaay behind with blogging for some unknown reason! I’ve decided to not just blog family sessions here. I am also going to blog as many individual portrait sessions as I have permission to. This male portrait session was shot back in spring in Stockholm. My client invited me to his home to shoot various style portraits: headshots and casual. He changed outfits several times to achieve different looks, we took some images outside, and all in all, had a lot of fun on this portrait session :)

He wanted to purchase ALL the images afterwards and sent me a super sweet message to say:

"Wow! Thank you very much, Sandra! Many beautiful images. Some show, it looks part of me (my soul), that I feel I have barely seen before. It feels like in some of them I have such a youthful (kid-like) spirit, while others feel very wise, and yet others are certainly very young adult-like, also daring.”

For someone who puts 100% heart and soul into all their work, it is so great to receive a comment like this after a portrait session!
