Having Fun With Strangers

Sometimes I can’t believe that part of my job is about having fun with strangers! Yes, I know I run a business and create portraits for people, but when it boils down to it, they would be pretty crap portraits if we weren’t all having fun at our portrait session. And so it’s up to me to bring the fun to every session. I usually have a quick video consultation with the mom or dad who booked the session, but other than that, we are effectively strangers meeting each other for the first time in real life ;)

Getting peoole to laugh is a great way to break the ice, especially if someone is nervous. Go out on a limb, crack and joke and feel the energy change. I had SO much fun with this family!! It really felt like the kids and I had always known each other, as we ran around the park (yes, I ran with some extremely heavy gear hanging around my neck!), and cracked jokes together! I basically had the best of fun with strangers!

Gorgeous Autumn Family Session in Stockholm | Stockholm Family Photographer

Greetings, beautiful people! How are you all? I know I say this every time, but how the heck are we in December already?! Has 2021 not been the fastest year on record! It really feels that way to me. It’s been an incredibly busy few months for me here at Jolly HQ. Lots of sessions, family and event work, lots of orders to process, wrap, send out, taking bookings for next year, family life, and now prepping for Christmas! Can someone please book me a holiday to Hawaii! ;) First, though, I have to share this absolutely GORGEOUS autumn family session!

This was my third time to photograph this beautiful family, who had flown in from Switzerland (yes, I have lots of great repeat clients), and I LOVED every second of meeting and photographing them. We had the session in my local park and created gorgeous, natural, and FUN images before going for afternoon tea together :) See the kind of memories of a family that can be captured in just ONE hour? Photo sessions are the kind of thing people always put off or don’t prioritize, but when you do have a family photo session, you have those beautiful memories for LIFE!

Fun Autumn Photo Session | Stockholm Family Photographer

I don’t know what strings the Universe pulls to bring me such great families, but I really could not pick them better myself! I always want to work with kind, positive energy people and that’s what I get! This lovely family met me at a local park for a fun autumn photo session. It was bitterly cold that day, but we worked fast and got beautiful, natural, vibrant images!

The sweet grandparents had flown into Sweden for a few weeks, so hats off to the mom who realised she needed to get some portraits of them altogether. That’s the kind of forward-thinking I really admire ;). Imagine how much the gorgeous twins in this family are going to cherish those images of them with their grandparents when they get older. It warms my heart to think about it!

Oh, I gotta say, I LOVE the colours this family wore to their session. The camera absolutely loves these rich, jewel tones!

BEAUTIFUL AUTUMN FAMILY SESSION IN STOCKHOLM | STOCKHOLM PHOTOGRAPHER

Before every photo session with a new family, I always tell the parents, “The energy you bring to our session is very important! You must remain positive and upbeat throughout the session.” If the parents are positive and happy during our session, we are bound to get better results, as all those good vibes will encourage the children! Well, let me tell you, these parents definitely brought GREAT energy to our beautiful autumn family session, which we did at a park just outside Stockholm!

They were positive and upbeat throughout the session, and in turn, so were the kids! We got some gorgeous portraits and relaxed family images that I know this family will treasure :)

If you’ve been meaning to have some family photos taken, but just never prioritise it, now is as good a time as any. The chances of you printing some family snapshots on your phone are very, very tiny, you know. When you book a Jolly photo session, you even receive digital files if you choose digital files. It’s the actual printed photographs that really matter, you know ;)
